Business Tourism set to boost local economy by €11 million by end of year

Cork is set to receive a €5 million euro boost from conferences in the city in the second half of 2016.
The Cork Convention Bureau have secured conferences and meetings which will result in over 3,500 delegates coming to Cork city and County from now until December.
According to Failte Ireland, international conference delegates and business tourists spend up to three times more than a leisure tourist.
Last year conferences and events in Cork added over €10 million euro to the local economy, and business tourism Leeside is expected to be over €11 million euro this year.
Speaking to RedFM News Project Manager at the Cork Convention Bureau, Steve Cox says the business traveller is worth €1,500 euro to the local economy.
