Calls for action amid escalating anti-social behavior on Cork buses
Calls have been made for a dedicated garda unit to patrol public transport services in the wake of a rise in anti social behaviour on buses across Cork.
Plain clothes gardai are currently patrolling the 202 bus to Mahon following reports of thieves robbing schoolboys on their way to and from school.
The National Bus and Rail Union say their drivers have been subjected to intimidatory behaviour such as rocks being thrown at windscreens and in August the 203 Farranree service had to be suspended after a driver was shot in the face by a child with a pellet gun
Speaking to RedFM News Dermot O'Leary of the NBRU says he believes unless firm action is taken instances such as these will only get worse
