Calls For Fast-Tracking Of Hospital Beds Amid Latest Trolley Figures

1,310 people were waiting on trolleys in Cork hospitals in January


The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says the Health Minister needs to fast track the promised increase in hospitals beds.

It follows the release of trolley figures that show January was the worst on record for hospital overcrowding.

Over 12,200 people were forced to wait on trolleys or in wards for a bed last month.

Leeisde 1,310 were waiting on trolleys in Cork hospitals in January. 

123 in Bantry General Hospital, 832 in Cork University Hospital and 355 in the Mercy University Hospital.
