Calls for Governemnet to take immediate action to ease the rental crisis in Cork

Cork housing charity Focus Ireland are urging the Government to get more vacant homes on the market
Many families in private rented accommodation are on the brink of homelessness due to rising rents with rent increasing in Leeside by over 50% since 2011.
Focus Ireland has provided 30 homes for families since it was first established 10 years ago and is aiming to triple this number to 90 by 2019.
They're working with Cork Simon and the City Council to introduce the repair to leas scheme which backs landlords who want to use refurbished properties for social housing.
Speaking to RedFM News Ger Spillane of Focus Ireland says current rent allowance rates are not sufficient enough to entice landlords to provide social housing to people.
