Calls for halting site to be shut down due to illegal dumping

Calls are being made for a halting site in the city to be shut down amid health fears due to illegal dumping.

There's been a spate of dumping on waste ground next to the Spring Lane halting site in Ballyvolane and the council is now being called on to push forward plans to close the site.

The Irish Examiner reports that €65,000 was spent last year on providing and removing skips from the halting site.
