Calls For Independent Inquiry Into Blackpool Flooding

There are calls for an independent inquiry into what caused flooding in Blackpool last week. It was the second time in nine months that the village was hit by flash floods. At a council meeting last night a report on the Blackpool flood, suggested that blocked trash screens caused the flooding. The City Manager Tim Lucey also pledged to take swift action to reduce flood risk in the area by putting in place monitoring provisions and looking at designing additional trash screeens. He says these are short term measures until the Office of Public Works delivers a long term solution.
