Calls for measures to stabilise rents
It comes as there is increasing pressure being put on services for the homeless nationwide.
Fresh calls are being made for the government to introduce measures to stabilise rents and allow people to stay in their homes.
It comes as the Simon Community launched a national campaign urging the public to call on the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste to prioritise the homelessness crisis.
Cork Simon say they have seen an increase in the demand on their services over the summer months with 65 people sleeping rough in Cork in July.
The charity says almost 40% of those availing of their daily soup run are in private rented accommodation but cannot afford food after they have paid their rent.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork Simon's Paul Sheehan says there are a number of short term measures that could be introduced to alleviate the problem.
