Calls for more specialised classes in Cork Schools for students with ASD

A Cork ASD coordinator says the lack of specialised classes is reaching crisis point.
The lack of Autism Spectrum Disorder units in Cork secondary schools is reaching crisis point.
That's according to Graham Manning, who runs an ASD programme in a Cork school. He claims that there are only 15 ASD specific classes in mainstream secondary schools across Cork City, two of which are currently being wound down, with a further two to open next year
He's calling for an amendment to the Schools Admission Bill which would give the National Council for Special Education the authority to instruct schools to set up ASD specific classes if required.
