Calls For The Establishment Of A Task Force To Tackle Illegal Dumping On The City's Northside

A resident in Killala Gardens told RedFM News that rates have made her a prisoners in her own home

The call follows reports this week that some residents on the northside are living in rat infested areas, which they say is a result of illegal dumping

Knocknaheeny Woman Amanda Feeney broke her silence about the issue last week and told RedFM News that she has  become a prisoner in her own home due to a rat infestation in Killala Gardens brought on by fly tipping illegal dumping in the area.

The mother of three says she's afraid to let her children outside, she's had to get rid of her dogs as the rats were eating their food and they have also eaten through her wheelie bins and garden shed.

The Council says it's currently in the process of gathering information about those involved in illegal dumping
