Campaigners say locals are angry that Indaver continue to try to get planning for an incinerator in Ringaskiddy

CHASE say the proposed facility is unnecessary, unsafe and unacceptable

Campaigners against a proposed €160 million waste incinerator for Cork Harbour have welcomed the news that An Bord Pleanala will not appeal a successful High Court challenge to planning permission for the facility

Cork Harbour For A Safe Environment want the permission quashed with no remittal - meaning a fresh planning application would have to be made - while Indaver Ireland wants the matter sent back to the board

Yesterday the case was adjourned for two weeks to give the board time to consider whether to agree to quashing the permission order or have it returned to the board for reconsideration.

CHASE have been campaigning against the proposed facility for over two decades and say the facility is unnecessary, unsafe and unacceptable

Speaking to RedFM News Linda Fitzpatrick from CHASE says locals are angry that the developer keeps returning with the same application

"It's an awfully long haul, people are tired of it. A new energy did come into the campaign for the last application, but people really are very tired and quite cross that a developer keeps on coming back and coming back with the same application, and all the time the inspectors are saying no, this isn't the right place for this. So people are cross I suppose at the amount of time, that it's taken"
