Campaigners welcome Cork waste firm's pledge to fast-track improvements

A waste firm at the Chruchfield Industrial estate which has been subject to scrutiny after breaches of its waste licence has agreed to fast-track improvements. Country Clean have also indicated they're willing to move their operations to the Bottlehill superdump in north Cork if a deal can be reached with the relevant local authorities. The company says its already in the process of improving bailing procedures and will now fast-track other recommended improvements. The development comes after a meeting last night between management at the waste firm and local residents who have been campaigning to relocate the facility due to foul odours, vermin and noise pollution in the vicinity. AUDIO: Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show local resident Maurice Sheehan says while there have been improvements over the past two weeks at the plant they stil want it to be relocated.
