Cancer Remains The Second Biggest Killer In Ireland

Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society takes place on Sunday

Cancer remains the second biggest killer in Ireland.

That's just one of the stark realities of the disease which is growing and by 2020 could see 1 in 2 people get a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

Breast cancer is one of the most common in this country and this weekend thousands of people will walk for a world without cancer when they take part in the Pink Ribbon Walk in Kinsale.

The 10km walk this Sunday starts and ends in Kinsale town centre

Speaking to RedFM News breast cancer survivor Deirdre Hegarty says while her cancer was curable her journey with the disease was a very lonely one
