Cars are once again allowed on Patrick Street today
It's after the City Council voted unanimously in favour of suspending the Patrick St car ban until August 9th.
The initiative which prohibited cars from using Patrick St from 3pm to 6.30pm had become a contentious issue with traders reporting a sharp decline in footfall and trade.
An extensive consultation period will now get underway with traders to continue implementing the city centre movement strategy.
Speaking to RedFM News after the vote last evening Lord Mayor Cllr Tony Fitzgerald says while the car ban is on hold there is a lot of work to be done to cater for the increasing population.
