Case of Michael Cornacchia adjourned As Criminal Proceedings Considered

The case of a 16-year-old Cork teenager who died after taking a combination of a deadly opioid and ecstasy has been adjourned.

Michael Cornacchia, who was found unresponsive at his home in Deerpark in January of this year is the first known fatality of the opiod drug U-47700 in Ireland.

An adjournment of the case was applied for at Cork Coroner’s Court heard yesterday as criminal proceedings are being considered.

The court heard that the case was at an advanced stage in terms of investigation and two arrests had been made. 

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
