It's after an increase in illegal dumping in the area which it's believed has led to a rat infestation in at least one of the houses in the area. 

RedFM News has learned that the local authority has contacted every household in the area to establish how they dispose of their waste and City Council staff are to conduct door to door inspections at the households that do not respond.

Mother of three Amanda Feeney says she remains a prisoner in her home where hundreds of rats have nested outside. 

She says rat poison and traps set by the HSE are not having the desired impact and the few rats they have caught now lie dead outside with seagulls picking at their carcasses. 

Amanda has renewed her calls to Cork City Council to be relocated as a matter of priority and says she's concerned for her children who she's afraid to leave outside the door.
