Census Figures Show Cork Commuters Have Higher Dependency On Cars

Figures from the latest Census show that commuters in Cork have a higher dependency on cars when compared with their counterparts nationally.

According to Census 2016, 72% of all commuters in Cork city and county travel to work by car. That figure stands at 65% nationally. 

Only 4.5% of people in Cork travelled to work be means of public transport compared with 9.3% of commuters nationally. 

The increase in traffic volumes Leeside has become more evident this week with reports of long tail backs in the morning and evening as thousands of students return to school.
