Childcare Professionals Demoralised By Looming Childcare Crisis

According to SIPTU.
Childcare professionals across Cork City say they are demoralised by the looming childcare crisis.
That's according to SIPTU who are calling on pre-school workers to come together as part of the "Big Start" Campaign, in order to lobby the Government for increased funding for the sector.
Seven creches in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Cork are facing closure, due to changes in legislation which no longer allows Community Employment scheme workers to supplement full time staff.
The campaign will also highlight the difficulty the sector is experiencing in retaining competent staff due to low pay and challenging conditions of employment.
Speaking to RedFM News SIPTU Organiser Theresa Butler says early childcare workers need to come together to get recognition from the Government:
