Childcare providers call for more investment into sector

Childcare professionals say they need extra money to make the government's childcare schemes work.
Childcare providers say they won't be able to participate in new childcare schemes unless they receive more investment.
Two news plans were announced in the budget, one of which involves the payment of a means-tested subsidy directly to childcare providers, who must be registered with Tusla.
The Private Early Education Providers group, says more money is needed to cover associated labour and administration costs.
Chairperson of PEEP Regina Bushell says the schemes have potential but professionals have to be consulted.
