Childline remains dependant on generosity of the public

Childline could not remain open 24 hours a day without the generosity of the public.
That's according to the ISPCC who say they could not provide the service without donations, as they receive very little statutory funding.
Last year the charity warned the Children's helpline faced night time closures unless a funding deficit of €1.2 million was found.
Last minute public donations and a two year Government funding arrangement allowed the service to continue, but the charity says they are still heavily reliant on public donations.
Speaking to RedFM News ISPCC's Anne Marie Spillane says they have opened an online Christmas Shop for anyone who would like to support the charity:
