Children should not be growing up in Irish Hotel rooms

The Minister for Housing Simon Coveney has said it is not acceptable for children to grow up in Hotel rooms in Ireland.

It comes as homelessness is now at unprecendented levels in Cork with a recent study showing an average of 15 people a night sleeping rough in the city.

There has been a three fold increase in children being homeless - with 25 families and 69 children living in emergency shelters in July.

The new homeless  have been forced onto the street as they cannot afford to pay high rents, so adults and Children are forced to stay in hotels, hostels and basic B&B provision across Ireland.
