Childrens Minister considered leaving Government following Apple decision

The Children's Minister says she did consider pulling out of Government last week over the Apple tax ruling, but felt she had important work to do.

Katherine Zappone says the commitment to her work as Children's Minister led her to decide to remain on in her role.

Last week the European Commission found Apple's tax deal with Ireland is illegal and ordered the tech giant to pay 13 billion euro -  plus interest - in back taxes.

The Dáil will be recalled on Wednesday to rubber stamp the Cabinet's decision to appeal the ruling.

Minister Zappone says the Apple crisis did make her consider her position in Government.
