The Department of Foreign Affairs says it's aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the mans family
It's feared human remains may be uncovered on the site following a discovery at the mother and baby home in Tuam earlier this year.
According to a report in the Sunday Times Katherine Zappone has contacted the Mother and Baby Homes commission over the sale of the site and said a commision has been tasked with examining the burial arrangements at Bessborough.
Sinn Fein's Donnchadh O'Laoghaire called on Minsiter Zappone to intervene and told RedFM News now is an appropriate time for an investigation into the site.
