City Council issues flood alert as spring tide approaches tomorrow

The City Council have issued a flood alert for Cork.

They are warning motorists that the high spring tide may have an effect on traffic tomorrow morning, with the possibility that flooding may occur in the low lying areas of the city centre.

The high tide is expected to be at its peak at 9am but flooding may occur prior to and after this tide.

The main danger areas include Union Quay, Morrisons Quay, South Terrace, Lapps Quay and the South Mall.

The council say that it's expected the main impact will be on traffic, however householders and businesses in low lying areas should take precautionary measures to protect their property.
