City Council Slammed Over Blackpool Flooding
The City Council have been slammed over flooding in Blackpool on the 21st of March. The Minister in charge of the OPW Brian Hayes, has accused the council of neglecting its responsibilities to clear debris from the River Bride which led to the village being flooded. Brian Hayes made the accusation during a 30-minute meeting with City Hall officials yesterday. However, city manager Tim Lucey has hit back, maintaining there was no basis for the minister’s claim as council workers had checked a screen in the river a number of times before the flood and found it free of debris.
