City Council target of cyber attack

Cork City Council has revealed that it was the target of a cyber attack two months ago.

At the weekend Meath County Council confirmed it was the target of an attempted sophisticated cyber crime, to steal just over €4 million.
The attempted theft was spotted and the council’s bank immediately alerted while the matter was reported to the Gardaí.

Cork City Council says it was the target of a similar attack in October however it was identified and isolated by the defence systems in place and their controls worked effectively to eliminate the risk.

Speaking to RedFM News the Council's Head of Finance John Hallahan  has moved to assure on-line customers that it's system is robust and secure.
