City Councillor asking residents of Spring Lane halting site to meet with officials at City Hall

Ken O'Flynn made the call following the revelation that just two out of twenty offers of social housing for people living at the site were accepted in the past year.

The Children's Ombudsman released a report at the end of last month describing conditions at the site as 'deplorable' following a three year investigation.

The report also found that children at the site suffered respiratory problems at a much higher rate than the general population.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Ken O'Flynn says the Council is willing to work with residents and hit out at what he claims are groups with 'vested interests':

"I think a deal could be put together and a lot more benefit could be brought from just the two parties- the people that are living on the site and the people that are managing the site- coming together, rather than vested interest groups that are only interested in going to courts, in making complaints to various groups, getting their headlines in the newspapers and delivering very little for the residents of the area."
