City Hall Have Moved To Defend The New Traffic Restrictions On Patrick Street

The restrictions are in force between 3pm and 6:30pm daily
The Council say the daily restrictions have been introduced in response to the increased volume of traffic in the city and to prioritise Cork City bus services passing through the street.
The City Council Chief Executive defended the move on Cork's RedFM this morning saying traffic management needs to be addressed if the city is to remain competitive.
The move was opposed by some City Centre traders, who say they might have to explore the option of closing early due to a drop in turnover.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM, City Council Chief Executive Ann Doherty says the City Centre Movement Strategy is vital to planning for the City's future:
