City Hall meetings could go online
City Hall looks set to get a Leinster-House style set up with microphones for public meetings amid renewed talk that the proceedings could be streamed online to the world. The council has invited tenders on the e-Tenders website for the design and installation of an audio and voting system which would also allow for the live streaming of council meetings over the internet. The installation of the new system is expected to enhance the level of debate as all 31 councillors have never had their own microphones during the public meetings, which has led to complaints that contributions to important debates cannot be heard.
