City's Newest Pedestrian Bridge Named After Mary Elmes

The bridge linking St Patrick's Quay and Merchant's Quay will be named after 'The Irish Oskar Schindler' following a meeting of the Council
Members of the City Council chose the name for the €5 million bridge following a public consultation process.
Mary Elmes was a Cork born aid worker known as the "The Irish Oskar Schindler".
She is credited with having helped over 200 Jewish children escape Vichy France and the threat of concentration camps.
She died in 2002 just shy of her 94th birthday.
It's expected 11,000 pedestrians and cyclists will use the new bridge daily.
