Claycastle to Redbarn boardwalk has been officially opened at an event in Youghal today

The €2.3 million wooden boardwalk is 2 metres wide and stretches almost two kilometres between the two beaches.
It's part of a wider project to connect the city to the county via ambitious greenway plans and it's hoped the amenity will lead to an increase in tourism in East Cork.
Speaking to RedFM News at today's launch, Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys says her department are focused on delivering more outdoor amenities:
"This is a fantastic facility in addition to this wonderful natural immunity that we have here, and I think it'd be a great asset for the local people, and indeed, for the visitors who come here on holidays to use this facility. So I'm delighted that we were able to provide funding for this, and also it's a core part of the rural strategy called Our Rural Future."
