Climate expert add his voice to debate over flood relief plans for Cork city

A climate expert has cast further doubt on the highly contentious flood relief plan for Cork city.
The €140 million Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme has been the subject of public debate and the Office of Public Works have received over 1,000 submissions.
The Save Cork City campaign group has been highly critical of the plan which they say will affect the historic fabric of the city with its focus on raised embankments and quay walls.
Former UCC Geography Professor Robert Devoy has now added his voice to the mix and says the plan only addresses flooding in the city centre and lacks a river catchment management plan for the Lee.
He has joined membrs of the The Save Cork City campaign who are calling for a tidal barrier.
Speaking to RedFM News Save Cork City Spokesperson John Hegarty says there is a team of engineers behind their proposals:
