Clonakilty Traders To Meet OPW Representative Over Plans For Car Park Closure
Traders in Clonakilty are to meet with representative of the Office of Public Works today to raise their concerns about plans to close a car park in the town this Summer.
The Kent Street Car Park, behind the library will be closed to facilitate work on part of a flood defence wall, which will run from the Supervalu roundabout just outside the town all the way to the local church.
That work will begin at the 80-space car park, however it's emerged that the the OPW plans to store machinery in the space from May to September so it will not be open to the public.
Traders and OPW reps are to meet later to discuss alternative storage solutions which wouldn't impact on the trade and commerce of the West Cork town.
