Co-Founder Of Irish Guide Dogs To Be Awarded Honorary Doctorate At UCC

The co-founder of the Irish Guide Dogs is to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Laws from University College Cork this evening
Jim Dennehy's story is one of triumph over adversity as there was very little for blind people in 1968 and he went on to co-found the thriving Irish Guide Dogs in 1976 after losing his sight eight years earlier.. .
Over the last 42-years, the charity has helped thousands of blind people improve their mobility and gain independence and the Cork facility also trains dogs to help children with autism
Each year the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind train between 30 and 40 dogs and Jim Dennehy hopes that in the future this figure can be doubled.
