Co-ordinated approach required to tackle drug problem in the city

The comments come from the the coordinator of the Cork Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
Tackling substance abuse will require a co-ordinated effort from all community and voluntary organisations Leeside.
That's according to the coordinator of the Cork Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force who says that the debate around treatment and not jail time as a solution to substance abuse is opening up in Cork.
It comes after recent figures revealed that heroin use is at an all time high in Cork with only 300 of the estimated 500 addicts receiving treatment for the addiction.
Speaking to RedFM News David Lane says a conference to discuss the approaches to drug users Leeside is being organised this year and will require input from all parties.
