Coast Guard & Navy Involved In Dramatic Rescue Off Cork Coast

The Coast Guard and the Navy were involved in a dramatic rescue off the Cork Coast last night.

The alarm was raised when a personal alert beacon was picked up by the Mine Head Coast Guard Station, after a yacht started taking on water in difficult sea conditions off Roches Point.

The LÉ James Joyce responded and launched a RIB to take the man on board - after which he was winched to a Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter.

Coast Guard Operations Manager, Gerard O'Flynn says he has been taken safely back to Cork.
