Cocaine Made Up More Than 1/3 Of €24.5 Million Worth Of Illegal Drugs Seized By Gardaí Last Year

Gardaí say the use of crack cocaine is replacing heroin in deprived areas
Today, they launched Operation Tara to tackle street-level dealing across Ireland.
Assistant commissioner John O'Driscoll says this is particularly important in poorer communities:
"So, in areas of deprivation, we see that crack cocaine is replacing heroin as a problem drug. Whereas, in the night time economy, and other locations, we see that wider use of cocaine is a problem and is expanding."
