Cold Case Review launched into Cork murder

A cold case review has been launched into the death of a Cork pensioner almost six years ago. Christopher Gussie Hornibrook was found bound and dumped on the floor of his home in Gurranabraher in 2007. This case came to light at the city coroner's court yesterday when an adjournment was sought once again into the inquest of the 73 year old. The coroner pointed out that the case has been adjourned many times over the years pending the outcome of a garda investigation and it could not continue to happen indefinitely. Gardai confirmed afterwards that a team of detectives from outside the Gurranabraher district are now examining the extensive file on the case. A post mortem confirmed that the pensioner died from a blow to his chest and restraint asphyxia. The case will come before the coroner's court again in November. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021 4946200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.
