Community in shock after death of teen in Deerpark

A community on the southside of the city has been left reeling after the death of a 16-year-old teenager. 

The alarm was raised after Michael Cornacchia was found yesterday morning at around 10.30 by his mother at their home at Deermount in Deerpark

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A forensic examination has been carried out at the house however gardaí have ruled out foul play.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital where it's hoped the exact cause of death will be established however gardaí say they're investigating whether or not drugs played a part in his death.

Toxiocology tests could take weeks but it's reported investigating gardaí are interviewing friends to find out if Michael consumed anything in the hours prior to his death. 

Meanwhile tributes are pouring for the 16-year-old who was a talented soccer player and had been considered for trials with clubs in England.
