Concen Expressed About Restaurant And Pub Reopening Date

Yesterday the Taoiseach announced the 7th June as for date for reopening the country's outdoor hospitality including restaurants and pubs.

Speaking to RedFM News Claire Nash who owns Nash 19 on Princes Street says while she broadly welcomes the re-opening of the city later this month with personal services like barbers, hairdressers and beauticians and click and collect retail from May 10th and all retail on May 17th, she has questioned the later timing of the reopening of hospitality businesses.

She says the reopening plan has divided the hospitality industry and calls are being made for clarity and for the government to publish the medical and scientific evidence deeming a hotel or guesthouse restaurant safer than an independent restaurant, coffee shop or gastro pub.

Speaking to RedFM News Claire Nash says the plan to open on a Bank Holiday doesn't appear to have been well thought out either:

"But a Bank Holiday Monday to open, you know, we just question the logic in it. And where's the rationale. And you know, a city that capitalises on the fact that we're the producing capital of Ireland. We'd have no access on a morning like that to fresh produce, which is what would be, you know, we love to showcase. A Bank Holiday Monday, followed by a crazy weekend, probably, in the city of vacationers. You know, we just worry where is the safety in that, where is the rational in that for us."
