Concern as homeless crisis worsens Leeside

Cork Simon has described the death of a homeless woman in the city over the weekend as deeply shocking.

The woman who was in her 30's had become homeless through eviction and had been sleeping in a tent in Gillabbey Park before her death, but had not availed of the services of Cork Simon.

A post mortem examination has taken place at Cork University Hospital but it may be sometime before a cause of death is established.

The death of the woman brought the number of homeless people who died on Irelands streets to three last week.

The homeless charity is calling on the Government to deliver on their promise to create more social housing Leeside in order to prevent further tragedy's in the future.

Speaking to RedFM News Cork Simon's Dermot Kavanagh says this is particularly worrying as we head into the winter season:
