Tabor Lodge says the anxiety about accessing accommodation is stressful for their service users

Concern has been expressed about the impact homelessness is having on people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction

Tabor Lodge which is a residential treatment centre outside Cork city says their service users are finding the uncertainty of where they will go on leaving treatment is adding to the anxiety associated with leaving a treatment programme..

Of the 213 people who accessed treatment at Tabor Lodge last year, the main reasons for referral were alcohol, followed by drug abuse and then gambling..

The issue of homelessness featured strongly for clients as many had lost their accommodation due to their inability to finance it, while others had been asked to leave family homes and were unable to secure alternative accommodation.

Speaking to RedFM News Mick Devine of Tabor Lodge says they are seeing more people with more social disadvantage year on year
