Concern expressed about the possible loss of the out of hours South Doc service in the North Cork area

The matter was raised in the Dail by local TD Sean Sherlock

Deputy Sherlock says he is aware that a restriction is to be imposed on the service that if a GP is over the age of 60 or is pregnant, the service may no longer be sustainable

He raised the matter in the Dail where he described the news as very worrying and is calling for the matter to be addressed urgently

However the Dail has heard that there are no plans at present to change the provision of the service in the area and any changes would have to be subject to discussion

Deputy Sherlock welcomed the response and added that no-one wants to see the loss of out of hours doctor services in the North Cork area

"We want to ensure that the matter is addressed in a way that ensures that if taxpayers money is being used to fund the South Doc service that there is transparency, absolute transparency about the decision making process, and we don't want to see a situation where there is a loss of out of hours services in the North Cork area."
