Concern over UCC decision to send some of its students in Brussels
Up to 30 students and lecturers from the college's Geography Department arrived in the city last Friday
Concerns have been expressed over a decision by UCC to send some of its students to Brussels despite the country's terror alert level.
Around 30 students and lecturers from the college's geography department arrived in the Belgian capital last Friday for an educational trip.
It's understood the city's terror alert level was at three - which is the second highest level - and some students questioned whether it was safe to travel to the city before the trip.
University College Cork confirmed to RedFM News that a risk assessment was completed in advance of the students travelling to Brussels and it was deemed to be safe.
UCC student Emily Healy praised the college's response since the attacks but told RedFM News their presence in Brussels could have been avoided
