Concerns as growing number of primary school children being diagnosed with diabetes

The age profile of people presenting with Type 2 diabetes is lowering.
That's according to the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute which has raised concerns about the growing number of primary school children being diagnosed with the disease.
One in four Irish schoolchildren are either overweight or obese and this has led to a pressure on services and a warning to parents needing to avail of a registered dietician that they can face longs delays on waiting lists.
Louise Reynolds, Communications Manager with the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute told RedFM News that there is a strong need for more registered dieticians to help families in this situation:
