Concerns expressed about Cork to US route

A decision on the transatlantic route is expected next month.
A European pilots’ association are the latest to voice their concerns about the planned transatlantic flights from Cork Airport.
The European Cockpit Association which represents more than 38,000 pilots has slammed the US decision to tentatively approve a licence application for Norwegian Air International to operate between Ireland and the US.
The body has branded the decision "an own goal" and has accused the US Department of Transportation of undermining its own airline industries as well as threatening jobs.
A 21-day window for submissions for or against the license is now open and this will be followed by a seven day adjudication period before a final decision on the granting of a licence can be made.
Speaking to RedFM News Managing Director of Cork Airport Niall McCarthy says under the EU Open Skies Deal the airline is entitled to operate the routes however objections are still possible at this stage.
