Concerns expressed by those suffering from Cystic Fibrosis as CF drug branded 'unjustifiably expensive'

The Minister for Health Simon Harris is working with other countries in a bid to receive the drug at an affordable price

The Health Minister says he'll be consulting with other countries in a bid to secure a drug for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers in Ireland.

It emerged that a group advising the HSE about the drug Orkambi has branded it 'unjustifiably expensive' and concern has since been expressed for the future of sufferers with the disease in Ireland.

England, Scotland, Canada and Australia are in discussions with the makers of the drug which has been credited with slowing the progress of the disease and Simon Harris is hoping to work with these countries to secure access to the drug at an affordable price.

Campaigners, including Cork woman Sharon Myers who is the mother to two CF sufferers, are set to mount a protest march in Dublin on December 7th calling for access to the drug.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Sharon says people need to be given a chance at life, and cost simply shouldn't be a factor.
