Concerns expressed over Abtran and Irish Water deal
The call centre firm was chosen to provide services to Irish Water.
A TD has raised concerns about how a Cork based call centre firm was chosen to provide services to Irish Water.
Catherine Murphy says a new Freedom of Information request has shown how Abtran made casual inquiries with then-minister Phil Hogan before it was awarded the contract.
She says the criteria for the job required the operators of the call centre to have a history of good service.
But she says Abtran has a poor record with other state bodies, and this should have been considered.
However in statement issued to Cork's RedFM, Abtran says the company is well known for the high quality of its operations.
Abtran added that all public contracts served by the company, have arisen from a competitive process in line with strict public procurement guidelines.
