Concerns expressed over delay in water supply upgrades in Cork

It follows the latest Remedial Action List from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Environmental Protection Agency have expressed concerns over the delay in water supply improvements in Cork.

The EPA's Remedial Action List which aims to resolve issues with the public drinking water supply says a number of areas in Cork including Skull, Drimolegue and the Cork City Supply on the Lee Road as priority locations where there have been delays.

They say Skull has been earmarked as an area for concern due to the elevated levels of chemicals called THM's which often form when the water is treated with chlorine.

Speaking to RedFM News, Senior Inspector with the Office of Environmental Enforcement Darragh Page says there are a combination of factors that can cause delays but ultimately, the responsibility for the improvements lies with Irish Water.
