Concerns expressed over horse cruelty Leeside

The comments come from the ISPCA.

The ISPCA has expressed concerns over the expected rise in the number of incidents of horse cruelty in Cork coming into the winter months.

The comments come as the charity responded to a call out in Dunmanway yesterday, where two ponies were found with severely overgrown hooves.

It's believed the two mares had been left for several months without having their hooves cut and in one case, they were so overgrown, they were curling towards the pony's legs.

Both ponies were seized under the Animal Health and Welfare Act and removed to the ISPCA Equine Rescue Centre in Mallow for treatment.

Speaking to RedFM News, ISPCA's Lisa O'Donovan says the owners have done a disservice to the animals.
