Concerns Expressed Over Little Island Recycling Centre

Midleton Skip Hire have applied for planning for a waste transfer station and recycling centre in the Little Island area

If the project is given the green light it's feared it will have a severe impact on the already heavy traffic volumes in the area. 
It's expected up to 150 trucks will be travelling into and out of the area to service the facility. 

Businesses and residents in the area claim there has been no consultation about the project and are holding a public meeting on the matter tomorrow at 7pm in Little Island.

In a statement issued to RedFM News this afternoon John Garde from Midleton Skip Hire has confirmed that he has applied for planning for the facility and says he fully intends to develop and operate it. He confirmed that he has a contract in place to purchase the site from Dave O'Regan of Country Clean, subject to satisfactory planning.

However Michael Mulcahy of the Little Island Business Association told RedFM News that the the local community will be objecting to the plans unless there's some form of consultation:
